The FCC is holding a Decency (indecency?) hearing as a result of the Janet Jackson boob incident.
Viacom President and CEO Mel Karmazin is on now: 9:35 am.
He says that MTV and Viacom had no idea it was going to happen and apologized to everyone. "This is not acceptable and we're not defending anything on any basis of free speech."
9:42 am
He just said that all of Viacom's 39 stations are going to have a five minute video delay for all of their live programming!
The hearing has gone live on this link:

IT'S ALSO LIVE ON CSPAN RIGHT NOW.
Mary Bono (R-Hollywood) (yes, that Mary Bono) just quoted Stevie Winwood's "Dear Mr. Fantasy" Traffic's "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" in her testimony...
the man in the suit
has just bought a new car
with the profit he made off your dreams
"hollywood's pushed the envelope too far" she says.
Now Barbara Cubin (R-wyoming) is comparing the boob incident to shouting "fire" in a crowded theatre.
Here's what someone told me was an interesting overview from 2/09/2004 from David Oxenford of Shaw-Pitman at this link:
Thought you turned off comments. I don't see an email address. Just wondering what this site is about since I stumbled onto it. Looks liberal enuf for me ;')
I used to run www.bushboyzstolethevote.com, still the best proof of the FL vote fraud. 30,000 mostly black votes were stolen in Jax, by doublepunching them on an IBM 129 keypunch. I got the statistical proof from the Washington Post database analyst, but for some odd reason the WP never published it, instead focusing on the tiny and easily ridiculed chads (Gee, I wonder why?) I never could get media attention. But then, the media took three years to find out Bush was AWOL and a year to find out there were no WMD when we knew that all along ;')
Right now I'm web-attacking Unum Provident Corporation for cheating the disabled and destroying their lives but I guess I'll have to get back to politics. It's not as satisfying as attacking an evil corporation since the results are more nebulous, but what the hell.
It's a shame the media destroyed Dean and anointed Kerry in one fell swoop. Well, he's taller and the idiot public votes for that, although a palm tree is also tall and ugly. I'm not too happy about is war and NAFTA votes but he's sure better than the alternative (Bush ;')
Anyway, if anyone is interested in the largest and most Provable vote theft (excepting maybe they Felon Purge) I'll post the vote theft page again, actually a small part of it, in a few days, at http://www.micethatroar.com/html/votetheft.html

The only way to make broadcasters understand our disgust with indecency on the PUBLIC airwaves, is to turn the channel or boycott the advertisers that sponsor such filth.
