Another needless fatality of war: Santa Rosa's Patrick O'Day. He and his wife had just married last year and were expecting their first child.
Patrick is believed to have been killed when his tank went off a bridge.
This was recorded on KTVU Channel 2 news on the morning of March 31, 2003, in San Francisco, CA.

I worked with Patrick's mum, Angela, from 1990 to 1994 and 1999 to 2000, butI knew Patrick for a short time. I first met him at an "Associate's Night" at his mum's work when Patrick was around 9 or 10. Seven years later, I was working with a school friend of Patrick's and saw Patrick often. I remember the Patrick who led his three brothers down the aisles that associate night, and I remember the Patrick who, one day when I became ill at work, drove me home. And, I remember one day, talking to his mum in her office, looking at an etching of Edinburgh, as Angela traced the path she used to take Patrick in his stroller. I have very mixed feelings about the war in Iraq. On the one hand, I have the hope that the Iraqi people ultimately will be better off. At the same time, going to war is failure. As Ben Franklin said, "There was never a good war or a bad peace." Which is the higher price? I honestly don't know anymore.
